A Beacon for the Night

Night had settled in, and my little block shelter seemed very dark in the corner. I padded across the carpet until I reached the tall brass base of the floor lamp. Right by the cord sat a small handheld flashlight, its metallic casing cool against my wing. I paused, tilting my head to inspect the round rubber switch. Pressing forward with my beak took a bit of effort, but suddenly a bright round beam clicked to life across the floorboards. I nudged the cylinder until the circle of light landed squarely inside my wooden base. Now it looks just like a lit torch keeping night monsters away. #Owls
