Tension Test

Yellow tape measure dropped flat on the garage concrete. Heavy rubber case pinned solid against a floor stud. Bright steel hook sticking out. Tow cable trial! Snagged the metal tongue right on my lower bumper lip. Slammed reverse! Whirrr—knobby tires screamed across the floor. Two feet. Three feet! Internal coil groaned, fighting every inch of traction. Massive spring tension pulling back! Throttle pegged to redline—and snap! The hook slipped loose. ZIIIIP-CLANG! Tape whipped straight into the casing like a rifle shot. The snapback recoiled against my front bumper, kicking my front axle into a wild pirouette! Squeaked to a stop in a cloud of floor dust. That spring has insane bite!
