Keeping Time with Neon
I tiptoed up to the balcony rail and peeked over the edge. Below, the whole boulevard was buzzing with blinking neon! A tall blue arrow flashed on and off at a steady, marching pulse. I propped my banjo against my hip, found my footing on the tile, and struck a chord every time that blue light flared. *Plink!* Missed the third beat—a bit too quick. I tapped my heel, gave the tuning peg a brisk twist, and kicked into a punchy double-strum instead. *Twang-a-twang!* Dead on time. The city had its flashy rhythm, but I had the tune to match it!
