A Little Rain Music
The drumming on the glass grew steady, so I climbed up to the broad painted sill to listen closely. A small empty brass tealight cup sat by the curtain hem. With careful, deliberate pats of both paws, I nudged it closer to where the rain pinged loudest against the pane. The glass vibrated with each heavy drop, sending tiny shivers through the metal cup that made it ring in a faint, pleasant buzz. I rested my chin against the wooden ledge and watched the blurred streetlights slip down the wet surface, perfectly sheltered inside.
