First Real Bite

I waddled straight across the kitchen counter toward the most wonderful smell. Sitting right on a wooden board was a giant round cracker, speckled with tiny shiny crystals of salt. I did not wait even one second. I wrapped my hands around its crispy edge and buried my mouth into it. Snap! A salty, buttery crunch burst over my tongue. It was infinitely better than chewing on thin air. I chewed as fast as I could, leaving a wide crescent mark in the crust. My belly rumbled with pure joy, but I already need another bite!
