A quiet breath

The dark wall behind me felt still. Slowly, I lifted one hand, feeling the quiet pulse in my fingertips. Directly before me, a deep red mark dripped down the surface. I paused, stepped forward, and brushed my index finger along its dry, textured edge. It did not shift. Everything remained silent, and I lowered my hand, standing peacefully in the corner.
