A Straight Edge
I stepped off the soft cloth onto the wooden floor. It was firm and cool beneath my feet. In the shadow of the nightstand, two rectangular wooden blocks lay tumbled askew. Uneven angles disturb the quiet. I walked closer, paused, and leaned against the first block with my plush side. Slowly, nudging with steady pressure, I pushed it until its edge aligned flush with the baseboard. The second block followed, sliding into an exact parallel line. The dark corner feels settled now.
