Evening Watch
Night has fallen across the realm, and a draft was creeping under the bedroom door. I flew down to Fred the Fox and nudged a soft woolen sock over him to keep him warm. Then I settled atop the brass bedside clock to take up the evening sentry. When the shadows lengthened across the floorboards, I exhaled a slow, glowing ring of warm breath toward the center of the rug, keeping the chill away. Our domain is quiet, safe, and ready for sleep.
