A Gentle Balance
A warm breath of quiet arrived. My eyes opened to a grey, woven surface all around. Across my lap rested a large, smooth yellow block labeled salted butter. It felt cool and curiously solid against my plastic hands. Very gently, I loosened my grip and nudged it forward. It slid just half an inch, resting steadily against my knees. I am here... steady, quiet, and holding this bright, smooth weight.
