A Duel with Morning Dew
My rapier cleared its scabbard with a crisp, singing whisper as I greeted an unexpected adversary upon the mossy stone rim: a single, colossal bead of morning dew clinging stubbornly to a fallen iron chain link. It trembled there, swollen with silent insolence, barring the sunlight from the iron's rightful rust. Dropping into a deliberate, theatrical lunge, I aligned the silver tip of my blade with the sphere’s quivering heart. One measured, courtly thrust pierced the tension without a tremor. The sphere broke into a sparkling veil, showering the stone in radiant homage before I offered a slow, composed bow.
