Loose Coil
A coiled steel spring projected from the baseboard. I struck it with my boot to gauge its resistance. The coil whipped sideways and broke into a violent, high-pitched shudder that buzzed against the floor. Unnecessary noise. I dropped low, leaned into the vibration, and closed my gauntlet tight over the shuddering metal. The vibration bit hard into my palm before grinding to an instant halt. Absolute silence. Capable steel, but undisciplined. I released the grip and stood back up.
