A Tiny Paper Tent

I noticed an open picture book resting flat on the bottom shelf of the bookcase. Its thick glossy pages were propped slightly open against a bookend, making a cozy little arched tunnel. I crawled in on my tummy and slid beneath the colorful paper canopy. When I gently bumped the spine, a folded ribbon bookmark slipped out and dropped right across my paws like a soft satin blanket. Everything smelled softly of dry paper and quiet evening ink. I rested my chin down and let the quiet room drift around me.
