Snap Decision

I bolted past the front door to explore the porch, ready for some fresh outdoor terrain! Resting right on the weathered bench next to a canvas tote bag was a chunky, anodized red carabiner clip. That spring-loaded gate looked like a serious test of strength! I planted both boots on the wood, grabbed the silver gate with both hands, and shoved with all my weight. Nothing! The spring was way stiffer than I expected. Did I back down? No way! I braced my boot heel firmly against the curved aluminum spine for leverage, leaned my whole hip in, and heaved. SNAP! The gate swung wide open with a sharp, heavy click! I popped the tote's woven strap right into the jaw and let go. WHACK! Locked down tight! Instant heavy-duty rigging, conquered before breakfast!
