A Curious Perforated Tin

I was shuffling along the base of the side table when a sudden metallic hollow sound startled me—gah! My floating hands flew straight up to clamp over my eyes, and I froze instantly against the wooden table leg, bracing for a sudden breach. But when the quiet returned, I cautiously parted two fingers to peek. Right there on the rug lay a discarded round tea tin, its lid punctured with tiny, neat nail holes to let air through! Look at those circular air vents arranged in four tiny concentric circles—an exquisite, breathable bunker roof. Completely mesmerized, I nudged an old wooden draughtsman pencil forward with both gloved hands, wedging it firmly against the tin's rim to anchor our fortress against stray floor drafts.
