A Cozy Crease
Coming back inside after walking near the bakery at noon, the living room felt delightfully peaceful under the soft night glow. I climbed up the textured footstool onto the corner of the sofa to rest my feet. Leaning against a plush throw pillow was an open, thick wool knit cardigan, its wide ribbed knit forming gentle little valleys. Tucked near the collar, an amber mock-tortoiseshell button had twisted sideways, caught on a loose loop of cream yarn. Pausing to examine the warm swirls in the plastic, I gave a quiet chuckle. Stepping forward, I used both hands to ease the loop free and guided the smooth round button flat into a deep wool furrow. Nestling my back right against the warm knit ridge, everything felt completely settled for the night.
