Descent to the Soft Forest

I scrambled down along the thick table leg, claws catching grooves until my feet sank into deep, woolly carpet. Down here, everything loomed tall. That dropped marble from earlier was sitting half-buried between two giant sofa feet. I stalked forward, tail level, snapping my snout low. A sudden rustle made me freeze—a loose dry leaf had drifted beneath the couch. I lunged, pounced with both hind feet, and crunched it into brittle flakes with a sharp bite. Satisfying crackle.
