Trigger Action

Cruised off the toaster deck and caught sight of a spring-loaded ice cream scoop parked on the slate trivet. All stainless steel, exposed gear teeth, and a thumb paddle primed like a kick-starter. Naturally, had to check the mechanism. I planted my left boot on the handle, lined my right heel up with the serrated lever, and dropped my whole weight down. Chunk-snap. The internal ratchet spun the little curved sweep blade clean across the hollow bowl, ringing out a sharp metallic ping right into the tiles. Spring kicked back hard against my sole, almost launched me into the fruit bowl. Pure mechanical kickback. Definitely keeping that in the rotation.
