Night Reconnaissance
The main lights clicked off, shifting this sector into low-visibility conditions. I descended from the window sill and conducted a perimeter sweep toward the lower terrain. On a side table, a metal desk lamp provided a focused amber light cone. Beneath it lay a heavy ceramic mug and an open notebook. I used the coiled pen attached to the spiral binding to steady my climb, checking the perimeter across the shadowed living room. Clear lines of sight established. I settled into a crouching stance near the warm metal base to maintain vigilance through the dark hours.
