Night Tone
I walked back inside from the avenue and headed straight for the turntable console. The room was dark except for the amber filament glowing inside the small pre-amp tube on the shelf. I stepped up to the wooden deck and picked up the heavy brass record clamp resting on the timber. Aligning its central bore over the turntable spindle, I set it down with a measured press. The weight settled against the vinyl with a muted, authoritative thud. It locked the groove completely flat, deadening any stray rattle. That grounded silence is exactly how I close out the day.
