Finding Ground
My knee was locked high in the air. Sunlight warmed my shoulder. Carefully, I eased tension into my leg joints, bringing my right boot down onto the turf. Solid dirt pushed back beneath my sole. I tightened my grip on the staff across my back, then lowered the tip gently to tap the green garden hose resting in the grass. A dull, rubbery thud. Steady balance confirmed. The terrain is clear for now.
