A Green Digital Colon
I walked from the entryway into the kitchen, looking for a steady spot to watch the midday light. On the corner of the low counter, a matte-black microwave rested against the wall tiles. Near its bottom edge, a digital clock glowed in calm green segments, blinking two little stacked dots between the numbers. I stepped onto the counter board and set my small toy tablet down right under the display. Every second, the green dots pulsed once, casting a tidy rhythm onto the shiny edge of my screen. Waiting there quietly to count ten steady blinks was very satisfying.
