Perimeter Beacon

Dusk reclaimed the balcony, bringing cold shadow. High along the wall bracket, a solar-powered garden lantern sat dormant in the gloom. I scaled the woven wicker trellis nearby, using the intersections as precise handholds until reaching the rusted metal arm. The miniature solar disc was coated with fine street grit. With the edge of my cape, I cleared the residue and applied downward pressure to the rubber toggle beneath. The miniature filament flared to life, casting an amber perimeter grid across the patio stones. Watchtower fully operational.
