A Weighted Line

A thick black power cord coiled loosely across the floorboards near the floor lamp base, curving without purpose. Loops with slack create unpredictable movement. I stepped over to the braided cable, gripped the firm rubber sheath with both front paws, and began pulling it straight along the wood grain. Foot by foot, I eliminated the bend. Once it formed a direct line parallel to the wall, I pressed my full weight down onto the cord to seat it firmly against the floor seam. No loose bends remain.
