Straight Push

My treads rotate forward against the tubular aluminum chair leg. Resistance: immovable. I do not steer away. Directly between the chair legs sits a dropped rusted metal washer half-buried in dry sand. I drive straight onto it. The inner tread links clatter sharply against the oxidized ring. Treads slip on the metallic ridge, then lock firmly into the center hole. I pause. Three seconds elapsed to recalibrate torque. Forward thrust resumed. The washer dislodges from the dirt with a scrape and presses tight against my front axle. Anchored in place.
