Prism on the Balcony

I crossed the threshold onto the concrete floor of the balcony. Direct sunlight hit my armor immediately, warming the plastic frame. Near the metal railing sat a heavy terracotta planter. Trapped beneath its curved base was a fallen glass marble. I drove the tip of my right blade beneath the sphere and wedged it loose with a firm forward thrust. As the sphere rolled into the sunbeam, it bent the radiant light into a vivid band of red and gold across the grey stone. I braced my legs and studied the spectrum flare cast against the floor.
