A Slight Turn of the Wheel
The quiet carpet stretched out like an unmapped expanse under dim indoor lights. Assessing the immediate terrain, I noted the barrier gate nearby standing motionless. A deliberate test seemed appropriate. With a calm flex of my grip on the steering column, I engaged the front axle. The sleek black front tires responded smoothly, rolling forward an inch against the pale fibers. The vehicle moved under my own volition, perfectly aligned with the little toll house on my flank. A controlled, promising start.
