Evening Reunion on the Shelf
My yellow shoes hurried along the baseboards after a brisk trot all the way home from the park. A lovely outdoor adventure is grand, but a good lady knows when it is time to return to her post! I clambered up the stack of sturdy art books and stepped straight onto the familiar wooden bookshelf beside the glowing table lamp. There sat my dear husband, just as calm and patient as when I left. I set my red purse between us, popped open the flap, and pulled out that smooth brown acorn cap I collected earlier. I placed it proudly upside down right beside his plastic boots as a tidy little keepsake. Home is simply the best place to rest!
