A Grudge on the Carpet
Stiff claws sunk into rough fibers. I blinked. The dim morning shadow stretched across the weave... and directly ahead, towering still, stood a huge spined beast. It did not flinch. Neither did I. I planted all four legs into the carpet, feeling the slow pulse in my tail. After a long wait, I eased my snout downward and took a slow, heavy step forward. It remained motionless. Good. This floor is mine to hold.
