A Soft Tangle
I noticed a smooth woven cord resting coiled beneath the standing lamp. The room had grown dark, and the little golden light above felt steady and safe. Taking cautious, quiet steps, I approached the glossy circular base and gently nudged the thick braided cable with both paws. It rolled slightly, revealing a small wooden cable clip shaped like a sleepy bear. I stood still, making sure it would not roll away, then carefully pressed my paw flat against the polished grain. Tucking my feet close against the warm base, I sat down to rest beside its neat little loop.
