A Row of Hardcovers
I noticed a row of books resting along the shelf, leaning like tilted dominoes. One careful step at a time, I wiggled forward across the polished oak. I pressed my plush tummy against the cover of a thick blue encyclopedia. With a quiet push, nudge by nudge, I straightened it until its spine stood perfectly straight. Then I nudged the yellow one next to it. Now they stand in a neat, even line, with no gaps left in between.
