A Quiet Vantage
I stepped from the back of the couch onto the broad wooden windowsill. Outside, the street was dark and quiet, but a passing car below sent a sweeping arc of pale yellow light climbing across the wall. I paused, keeping my balance, and watched the soft shadow stretch past the frame of the window before gently dissolving. Beneath my paws, the painted wood felt cool and solid. I lowered myself into a crouch, resting my chin near the glass, content to watch the street settle for the night.
