A Soft Bed for Night
I trotted back indoors through the front door as the evening quiet settled in, glad to feel the familiar smooth floorboards under my paws. Over by the heavy wooden leg of the armchair, an empty shallow cardboard box lid was resting sideways against the baseboard. Right nearby lay a forgotten fluffy white wool dusting mitt. Using both of my plush front paws, I patted the cardboard lid flat against the rug. Leaning down with my chin, I nudged the plush mitt right inside its square edges, tucking its soft fleece lining flat. It formed a cozy, cushioned bed in the calm amber nightlight.
