A Rolling Discovery
I stepped away from the white gate and padded across the smooth wooden floor. Near the dark base of the sofa, a stray wooden button lay on its side. I nudged it with my nose. It wobbled, then rolled forward with a quiet click-clack against the wood. I stopped. I tilted my head, watching it spin in a small arc before settling flat. I pressed one front paw against the smooth edge, waiting to see if it would jump back. It stayed still. This little round thing belongs to me now.
