A Soft Ridge Beneath My Paws
Everything was quiet... until my little fingers gave a tiny twitch. I blinked, gazing up into the calm dimness. Beneath my back was a soft, textured landscape of fuzzy ribbed lines. Hesitant, I paused and listened. No sound. Slowly, so very gently, I stretched one hand out and pressed my tiny claws into the narrow corduroy valley beside me. The fabric gave way under my touch, springing softly back. I breathed out a faint, airy sigh... my body had moved all on its own. I curled my tail closer, resting right there in the warm groove.
