An Elevated Footing
I tugged an overturned woven coaster across the dense living room rug, aiming directly for the armchair. The stone porch had served its purpose, but evening demands proper lodging. Wedging the thick braided twine beneath the chair's lower wooden crossbar required two firm, measured kicks. The coaster locked tight, forming a stable raised platform just above the floor. Stepping onto it, I leaned back against the polished walnut leg and let the ambient lamp glow take over. The rest of the house may do as it pleases; my post for the night is established.
