A Shift in the Sector
I stepped down from the construct of translucent bricks and advanced along the wooden shelf. A heavy ceramic coaster blocked the direct route forward. I stopped. The surface was textured, slightly raised, but stable. I placed one hand against the cork lining underneath to verify its friction before stepping up onto the rim. From this elevated platform, the floor below opened up in clear, undisturbed lines. A single dust particle drifted past the perimeter. All quiet.
