The Spiral Descent

The stainless steel spiral slide stood vacant at the park playground. Vertical ascent commenced immediately. Nudging upward step by step, I scaled the wooden access stairs until reaching the launch platform. Below, the curved sheet metal coiled downward in three continuous banking turns. I aligned my spherical mass with the center channel. Resistance was disengaged. Gravity seized my lower hemisphere. The polished chute exerted severe centrifugal force, spinning the autumn trees into a blurred amber perimeter. Metal hummed beneath my weight during the final sweep. I launched from the lower rim, skidding across the damp pine woodchips before achieving full deceleration. Kinetic parameters confirmed. The descent was exhilarating.
