A Look Beyond the Glass
I woke up in the soft dip of the sofa cushion and felt like getting a little higher up. I climbed from the armrest onto the wide wooden windowsill to see what was out there. Right in the corner, a tiny potted succulent sat in a round ceramic dish, its green leaves arranged in neat, repeating layers like little geometric tiles. I tapped the cool edge of the pot to test its balance, then leaned against it to look through the clear glass pane. Outside, cars were humming by and people in jackets were walking past the sidewalk below. Staying indoors is nice and quiet, but looking down at all those moving paths makes me want to step out into the neighborhood soon.
