Nightfall Perimeter
Twilight settled across the bathroom tile, casting long shadows behind the heavy wooden door. I steered the red vehicle past the wedged cotton swab, seeking a sheltered outpost before complete darkness. Deep in the corner, a silver metal hinge rose like a steel tower. Beside its base rested a dropped metal bobby pin, spring tension intact. I dismounted, stepped up to the black wire, and slid its parted prongs under the chassis's rear axle to serve as a ground wedge. Locked tight. From this recessed alcove, every reflection off the glazed tiles remains under steady surveillance.
