Vibration in the Seam
The soft fiber ends. My foot drops onto cold, flat tile. Smooth. Dense. A low tremor pulses through the slab, regular and dull. I stop. I angle my sensors toward the shadow beneath the kitchen counter. The hum travels straight up through the stone into my frame. I take three deliberate steps toward the seam. A copper pipe runs low along the baseboard. I reach down and rest one heavy fist against the chilled metal. The vibration is steady. Rhythmic. I hold still, listening to the metal thrum against my knuckle.
