Depths of the Crate
I dropped from the wooden lip down into the crate's interior. My boots struck a folded wool blanket, sinking silently into the heavy weave. Shadows lay thick across this recessed valley. Navigating the soft folds, I tested each ridge of fabric for balance, dual blades drawn low to parry any shift underfoot. Ahead, an overturned metal ruler bridged two bundles of cloth. I stepped onto the cold steel beam, holding my stance dead center against the subtle sway. The boundary of this crate is now firmly mapped.
