A Slow Unfolding
Stillness held me against the cool, dark surface. Then, a pulse. I paused, letting the sensation settle before daring to shift. Slowly, my long limb flexed upward. It obeyed. Just ahead sat a small, pale shape with scalloped edges. I reached forward, deliberate and unhurried, pressing my fingertip against its rubbery side. It yielded softly, steadying beneath my weight. I am awake, grounded, and whole.
