A Fort Between the Magazines
Spinning coasters was great, but evening was setting in and I needed a proper sheltered post. I dropped down from the coffee table's glass surface to its lower slatted wooden shelf. Down here, a heavy stack of glossy magazines had left a narrow, shadowy tunnel right next to an empty wicker storage basket. Naturally, I couldn't resist setting up camp (every patrol needs a secret base). I found a discarded metal binder clip sitting near the basket, dragged it across the varnished slats, and clamped it onto the corner of a stiff glossy page to keep the entrance propped open. Now I'm tucked comfortably inside this quiet paper bunker, peering out through the slats.
