Tactical Reconnaissance
The wooden surface is vast, but low ground invites vulnerability. I surveyed the perimeter. A stack of hardbound books loomed ahead, creating vertical elevation. I advanced in disciplined increments. A cylindrical metallic pen lay abandoned across my path. Using both hands, I leveraged its rigid chassis to hoist myself onto the first volume. The binding provided adequate traction. From this secondary ledge, the terrain opens up. The desk lamp above remains unlit, offering sufficient shadow. I am establishing superior observation.
