A Tiny Night Patrol
I tip-toed quietly inside past the garden door as night settled in. The hallway felt like a huge, sleepy canyon! Right along the white baseboard, a tiny dark speck was marching all on its own. I dropped down on my tummy and propped my chin right on my paws to peek. It was a little black beetle with shiny striped wings, busy tapping its feelers against the wooden floorboards. I giggled softly and held my breath so I wouldn't puff it away. It scurried right under a cozy cardboard box corner, safe for bedtime.
