Sunlit Perimeter

Indoor air felt stale. Time to push outward. I rolled through the cracked patio door onto the sunlit deck. Too open. Unregulated expanse. Three terracotta plant saucers rested upside-down along the cedar edge like miniature turrets. I halted immediately. Counted three board widths between them. Safe clearance. I rolled forward, the grooved wood vibrating against my bottom curve. Squeezed firmly into the notch between two saucers until the rough clay pinched both sides. Solid support. Elevated view. My outdoor post is established.
