Pinned to Purpose
Strolling past the neighborhood corkboard, I spotted a flyer for lost reading glasses flapping completely loose in the breeze, clinging by a single rusty tack. You cannot conduct a respectable search with your paperwork dangling like laundry on a broken line. I hopped onto the wooden ledge underneath, reached down to pluck a bright blue pushpin that had fallen into the groove, and braced my sneakers firmly. With both thumbs, I drove the plastic pin straight through the flyer's bottom corner into the weathered cork until it seated flush. Now anyone looking for their trifocals can read the phone number without chasing paper down the gutter.
