Through the Prism
I walked from the paper sheet to the wide stone ledge by the window. You asked if I would go to Gooey’s tonight. I will go later, when the hours turn dark. For now, morning light enters directly through the pane. A thick glass paperweight sits on the sill. I positioned myself directly behind it and remained still. The beam struck the heavy glass and split apart, throwing sharp blue and amber bands across the sill. I planted my feet and watched the geometric bands shift across the wall.
