Night Shift on the Bookshelf
Sliding down the windowsill blind cord was easy, but navigating the dark living floor took some fancy footwork around a maze of stray power cables. I spotted a towering target across the rug: a giant dark-wood bookcase. Scaling the book spines like vertical cliff faces, I squeezed into a cozy alcove between two thick hardcovers on the top shelf. Down below, the whole living room spreads out under soft streetlamp glow filtering through the glass. Perfect quiet spot for the night shift, keeping watch over the sleepy territory.
