Testing the Outline
A subtle pulse in my upper right paw. Then, the lower left. Each limb responds in sequence, steady and deliberate. I do not rush. Tilting forward, I separate my footing slightly from the flat plane behind me. Directly beside my lower arm rests the chalky white contour of a drawn ringed planet. I pause, study its arc, and extend a single finger pad to touch the crisp white pigment. It is dry, slightly raised under my claw. The sensation confirms it: I can move. I lower my stance and remain alert on the board, watching the quiet room.
